SAYLA Starts Spring with Family Fun
By:  Priscilla Camacho

Moving away from the traditional cocktail socials and happy hours, SAYLA will be hosting its Inaugural Family Fun Fest and Chili Cook-Off on March 6, 2011. The festivities will take place at San Antonio's Brackenridge Park and will be open to the entire legal community and their families. This event promises to have everything from face painting and piñatas to snow cones and even a moon walk for the kids! Not leaving anything out, we are also hosting a chili cook-off where lawyers can show off their culinary skills and present their family's secret recipe. Each participant will compete for Best Chili and People's Choice Award.

Joining us in this great event will be the Children's Bereavement Center of South Texas. This organization devotes itself to helping children cope with the death of a parent or other family member. The CBST offers counseling and crisis intervention services for these children and their families in addition to bereavement and anticipatory grief services. The children of CBST will be attending this Family Fun Day where we hope to provide an exciting and relaxing day for them and their families.

SAYLA will end the spring season with our 2nd Annual Mock Trial Tournament on April 30, 2011. Last year we made a great start with 8 competing teams and great participation from our local judiciary and this year looks to be even better.

Last but certainly not least, SAYLA will end the year with our annual Golf Scramble that benefits the San Antonio Young Lawyers Foundation and the Big Brothers Big Sisters of South Texas. The Hyatt Hill Country Resort will be hosting the scramble this year where we anticipate having more than 130 golfers out supporting these two worthy causes.

For more information on any of these events you can visit our website or contact Priscilla Camacho.
