Access To Justice Commission Update

Access To Justice Commission Update

Champions of Justice Gala for Veterans
By:  Georgia Trapp Nolan

On May 1, 2012, the Texas Access to Justice Commission will host its annual Champions of Justice  Gala for Veterans. The State Bar of Texas has graciously agreed to underwrite this worthwhile event so that all proceeds will be dedicated again solely to programs providing civil legal services to Veterans and will be distributed through the Texas Access to Justice Foundation.

Last year's event raised $377,950 for legal services for low-income Texas veterans. These services assist in addressing legal issues related to marital problems, difficulties in getting medical or disability benefits, wrongful foreclosures, and other situations that may arise due to a veteran’s absence during military service.

Our guest speaker will be Admiral William H. McRaven, of the U.S. Navy, who was in command of the Osama Bin Laden mission and currently serves as the 9th Commander, U.S. Special Operations Command will be introduced by Mack Brown, Head Football Coach of the University of Texas Longhorns.
