Legal Eagles Mix & Mingle with Harris County Judiciary
By:  Arthur L. Bryan, II

The Houston Young Lawyers Association (HYLA) hosted its annual Evening with the Judiciary in the Treetop of The Grove overlooking Discovery Green in Downtown Houston. This year’s chair, Veronica Montemayor, welcomed over 350 young attorneys and supporters of the Houston legal community, in addition to members of the Harris County judiciary, for an evening of networking underneath the Houston downtown skyline. The event included hors d’oeuvres and drinks with musical selection by Divisi Strings, a string quartet.

Evening with the Judiciary is an opportunity for young attorneys to engage with members of the Harris County judiciary in an out-of-court setting and a celebration of those members of the judiciary. Engagement with the judiciary is an important component of development for young attorneys, particularly those who are litigators. Justice Brett Busby of the Fourteenth Court of Appeals serves as HYLA’s judicial liaison, and regularly provides opportunities for engagement through HYLA’s Judicial Committee.
