Generation Generosity
By:  Kristy Blanchard, TYLA President

Did you ever wish you could do something to help change the public perspective of lawyers? Does your local affiliate want to put on a public service project but lacks the resources to do it? TYLA can help!

This year TYLA will roll out its newest project, Generation Generosity, across the state. Generation Generosity is an award-winning project started by the Dallas Association of Young Lawyers. It aims to help change the public perspective of lawyers across Texas through public service projects performed by lawyers. With Generation Generosity, TYLA will be partnering with local affiliates to put on at least one public-service project each month. The current schedule of projects is:

• September 6, 2013: TYLA is partnering with Gillespie County area lawyers to put on a free Veterans Clinic in Fredericksburg from 4:30–6:30 p.m. in the Conference Room of the Gillespie County Annex 2 (the old Clinic Building) at 102 E. San Antonio St., Fredericksburg, Texas. TYLA will provide free legal resources about veterans’ issues and assist with power-of-attorney documents at this clinic.

• November 16, 2013: TYLA is partnering with the Lubbock County Young Lawyers Association to put on a public-service project.

• January 18, 2014: TYLA is partnering with the Fort Worth–Tarrant County Young Lawyers Association to put on a public service project.

• May 3, 2014: TYLA is partnering with local lawyers in the Bandera County area to put on a public-service project.

If you live in any of these areas and want to get involved—or if you or your local affiliate would like to partner with TYLA to put on a public service project in your area—please contact TYLA President Kristy Blanchard. Help TYLA create a new generation of generosity!
