Editor's Column

May signifies the beginning of summer vacation for students, another bar prep season for graduating law students, and the election of new leadership for TYLA. By May we all know whether those well-meant New Year’s resolutions held, like getting to my son’s tee-ball game in the middle of a busy tax season. (Hint: I did and loved every minute of it!) We can now take a breath and enjoy a break to celebrate the success of 2016 so far, hopefully on a beach somewhere. We also look forward to making the rest of 2016 just as successful.

This issue of eNews highlights the renewal that comes with each spring. Lauren Fincher, TYLA liaison for the Litigation Section of the State Bar of Texas, invites attorneys to attend a panel discussion between four legendary Texas litigators to give trial tips, share secrets to their success, and explain the importance of giving back to the profession and the community. Mary Capello highlights the Laredo Color of Justice Program seeking to educate and motivate young minority students to consider a career in law. Christina Scharar contributes practical reminders for new attorneys as they encounter the ever-occurring casual legal question and tips for scheduling personal commitments around a hectic work schedule.

As spring passes and summer begins, I celebrate the success of 2016 so far, and l look forward to the rest of 2016. I hope you will join us at the State Bar of Texas Annual Meeting – to be held at the Fort Worth Omni and Convention Center on June 16-17, 2016.

Enjoy this edition of TYLA’s eNews! Have a wonderful summer!
