Trial Runs Around the State

As part of its health awareness initiative, TYLA planned and sponsored The Trial Run, a 5K fun run, encouraging lawyers attending the State Bar of Texas’s Annual Meeting to participate. TYLA also encouraged its young-lawyer local affiliates across the state to host similar runs on the same date and time so that, on this one day, all across Texas, lawyers are running together.  Tarrant County Young Lawyers Association, Ector County Young Lawyers Association, and San Antonio Young Lawyers Association all featured a local Trial Run in their area.  Here are their stories.

Tarrant County Young Lawyers Association

The first annual Trial Run, a joint initiative organized by the Texas Young Lawyers Association and local young lawyer chapters, had a great turnout in Tarrant County. Despite the Texas heat, everyone had a BLAST!!! TCYLA's running group, the Running Objections, represented TCYLA well in this state-wide 5K run!

Ector County Young Lawyers Association

Ector County Young Lawyers Association (ECYLA) hosted its own 5K Trial Run at the University of Texas at the Permian Basin Trail on June 28, 2014. More than 20 runners and walkers attended this first annual event. Participants enjoyed breakfast together immediately after the run!

San Antonio Young Lawyers Association

As the sun rose over the Alamo the morning of Saturday, June 28, 2014, members of the San Antonio Young Lawyers Association (SAYLA) waited in their running shoes to start an exclusive historical landmarks tour through downtown San Antonio. This tour was anything but ordinary, as it involved a 5K guided run. SAYLA members ran through the heart of downtown San Antonio learning about historical buildings and landmarks including the Alamo, the Riverwalk, Market Square, and La Villita. This event, hosted by the SAYLA healthy living committee and San Antonio River City Run, coincided with the statewide Texas Young Lawyer’s Trial Run. The event, open to all SAYLA members, aimed to encourage healthy living and show off the historical sites in the fantastic Alamo City for both new and longtime residents. Everyone who participated had a great time, and we look forward to planning another Trial Run with TYLA next year.
